The Enterprise tried to divert an asteroid headed for a planet of people descended from Native Americans, while an amnesiac Kirk lived among them as Kirok.
In 2268 the Enterprise went to divert an asteroid heading for a planet whose people were descended from Native American peoples, apparently moved there long before by a race later called the Preservers. Kirk fell into a mysterious obelisk on the surface and lost his memory. The people took him in as a god named Kirok, and he married the priestess Miramanee.
The Enterprise's attempt to deflect the asteroid failed and damaged its engines. Spock decoded the obelisk's symbols and learned it was an asteroid deflector. Kirk was found, and the obelisk diverted the asteroid, but Miramanee was killed after being stoned by villagers.
