A Klingon, a Vulcan and the Cerritos each face their own day before converging on a Pakled plot backed by a rogue Klingon captain.
The episode follows three ships. On the Klingon Bird-of-Prey IKS Che'Ta, Ma'ah tries to win the post of second officer and learns that Captain Dorg has been arming the Pakleds, including with Veruvian bombs meant for Earth. On the Vulcan ship Sh'vhal, the junior officer T'Lyn is criticized for emotional reasoning but persuades her crew to investigate an anomaly that turns out to be Pakled weapons testing.
The Pakleds and the Che'Ta attack the Cerritos, and the Sh'vhal comes to its aid. Ma'ah kills Dorg in combat, takes command and withdraws. Despite her success, T'Lyn is sent to serve in Starfleet as a reprimand for her conduct. The title is Klingon for three ships.
