After an away mission to a pre-warp planet, Reed realizes he has left his communicator behind. He and Archer return to retrieve it, but they are captured by the local military, who believe they are spies from an enemy nation using advanced technology.
The pair face interrogation and a death sentence, and the crew works to rescue them without exposing the planet to alien contact. Eventually the crew uses a cloaked Suliban cell ship to free the captives. The episode was directed by James A. Contner, with a teleplay by Andre Bormanis.
