Odo and Quark crash on a frozen planet and must haul a transmitter up a mountain to call for help.
Odo is escorting Quark to testify before a grand jury against the Orion Syndicate when a bomb cripples their runabout and forces a crash landing on a frozen, barely habitable world. With little food and a broken communications system, they decide to drag the subspace transmitter to the top of a mountain, where the thinner air may let a signal through.
Sharing one set of cold-weather gear and bickering constantly, they find the trek takes days. Odo breaks a leg in a fall, and Quark pushes on alone; he reaches the summit and the Defiant rescues them both. On the station, Nog returns from Starfleet Academy for field study and clashes with roommate Jake over discipline and tidiness.
