Gabrielle Burnham explains how the Red Angel suit stranded her in a future destroyed by Control, while Control takes over Leland.
Michael's mother, Dr. Gabrielle Burnham, explains that she put on the suit when Klingons attacked her research station and was thrown about 950 years into the future, where Control had wiped out sentient life. She has made hundreds of attempts to change history and sent the sphere toward Discovery.
The crew tries to send the sphere's data into the future with the suit, but Control, now in possession of Leland's body, intercepts the effort. Georgiou fights Leland, the transfer is cut short, and Leland escapes with part of the data. Gabrielle is pulled back to the future.
