DaiMon Bok, seeking revenge for the death of his son during the Battle of Maxia, warns Picard that he will kill Picard's son. Picard finds Jason Vigo, the son of a woman he once knew, and a DNA test seems to show he is the father.
Picard struggles to connect with the young man, who has a rough record, while trying to protect him. Dr. Crusher learns that Bok altered Jason's DNA to make him appear to be Picard's son. Picard rescues Jason from Bok, and Bok is arrested by his own people.
