Yuris is one of the Vulcan doctors attending an interspecies medical exchange in Stigma. The Vulcan delegation discovers that T'Pol has Pa'nar Syndrome, a disease spread only through the mind meld, which is taboo on Vulcan.
Yuris sets up a secret meeting with T'Pol and reveals that he too is a mind-melder, part of a hidden minority. When she explains that her meld was forced on her, he urges her to tell the others. His situation shows the prejudice faced by Vulcans who meld, a theme the series returns to later.
