A peaceful hill tribe leader and old friend of Kirk, who was drawn into armed conflict when Klingons supplied weapons to his enemies.
Tyree is a leader of the hill people of Neural, whom Kirk befriended during a survey mission years earlier. When Kirk returns, he finds that the villagers are attacking Tyree's people with flintlock weapons supplied by the Klingons.
Tyree's wife Nona, a skilled user of herbs, saves Kirk after he is bitten by a mugato, but she is later killed. Tyree, once a man of peace, asks for weapons, and Kirk decides to arm the hill people so that the two sides stay in balance. He was played by Michael Witney.
