The Vulcan captain sent to retrieve T'Pol from Coridan, whose life she saves at the cost of being wounded.
Sopek is the captain of a Vulcan ship sent by Ambassador Soval to recover T'Pol, who is being recalled after the destruction of P'Jem. In Shadows of P'Jem he leads a direct Vulcan rescue of Archer and T'Pol from Coridanite rebels, refusing to cooperate with the Enterprise crew.
When the rebel leader Traeg opens fire, T'Pol pushes Sopek aside and takes the blast herself. Moved by her action and by Archer's appeal, Sopek agrees to lobby the Vulcan High Command to give her a second chance, and she remains aboard Enterprise.
