The ageing leader of the Son'a, a former Ba'ku exile who plotted to steal the regenerative radiation of his old homeworld.
Ru'afo commanded the Son'a, a people kept alive by constant cosmetic surgery and medical treatment. In Star Trek: Insurrection he joined with Admiral Dougherty in a secret plan to relocate the Ba'ku from their planet in the Briar Patch and harvest its metaphasic particles, which could restore youth.
It emerged that Ru'afo and other Son'a were themselves Ba'ku who had tried to seize control of their community a century earlier and been exiled. When Dougherty hesitated, Ru'afo killed him and pressed on alone. Picard and Worf sabotaged his harvesting ship, and Ru'afo died when it was destroyed. The role was played by F. Murray Abraham.
