A Lokirrim captain who hunted photonic beings and was drawn to Seven of Nine while the Doctor was secretly controlling her body.
Ranek commands a Lokirrim warship in Body and Soul. His people have suffered an uprising by their holograms and treat all photonic life as a threat, so when they detect the Doctor aboard the Delta Flyer, they capture Seven of Nine and Harry Kim. The Doctor has hidden his program in Seven's Borg implants and controls her body.
Ranek is attracted to Seven, not knowing the Doctor is behind her behaviour. The Doctor sedates him during a date to contact Voyager, and when Ranek is hurt in the fight that follows, the Doctor reveals himself and treats him.
