The ruthless Orion leader of the Emerald Chain, the crime syndicate that dominated much of the galaxy in the century after the Burn.
Osyraa was the Orion head of the Emerald Chain, a syndicate of Orions and Andorians that grew powerful by controlling dilithium and trade after the Burn. Worlds that accepted the Chain's help tended to collapse under its demands, and it treated captured workers as servants.
She first clashed with Discovery at Kwejian, where Cleveland Booker's brother Kyheem had made a deal with her, and she withdrew vowing revenge. Later she seized Discovery in the Verubin Nebula and used it to slip through the defenses of Federation headquarters. There she offered Admiral Charles Vance a peace treaty, but refused his condition that she stand trial for her crimes, and she murdered the Andorian former servant Ryn.
Michael Burnham fought her inside Discovery's data core and killed her as the ship was retaken. With Osyraa dead the Emerald Chain fell apart and many planets began to return to the Federation.
