Obrist was Annorax's loyal second-in-command aboard the Krenim weapon ship, whose doubts grew during the Year of Hell.
Obrist served aboard the Krenim temporal weapon ship alongside Annorax, who had spent some two centuries trying to rewrite history in order to restore the Krenim Imperium and bring back his dead wife. Long devoted to his commander, Obrist had shared his decades of isolation outside time.
In Year of Hell, Obrist watched as Annorax held Tom Paris and Chakotay captive and erased whole species from history. In Year of Hell, Part II, Obrist became increasingly troubled by Annorax's obsession and the endless cost of their mission. He openly questioned whether their cause could ever succeed, shortly before the weapon ship was destroyed and the timeline reset.
