The charismatic Starfleet Academy cadet who led Nova Squadron into a forbidden maneuver that killed a classmate.
Cadet Nicholas Locarno is the leader of Nova Squadron, an elite flight team at Starfleet Academy that includes Wesley Crusher. Confident and persuasive, he holds great sway over his teammates.
In The First Duty, Locarno has the squadron attempt the banned Kolvoord Starburst during a practice flight near Saturn, and the accident kills cadet Joshua Albert. He persuades the others to hide the truth during the inquiry. When Picard pressures Wesley to come forward, Locarno takes full responsibility and is expelled. He was played by Robert Duncan McNeill.
