Maurice Picard is Jean-Luc's father, long remembered as harsh, whose true efforts to protect his family Picard finally understands in a coma vision.
Maurice Picard is the father of Jean-Luc Picard and the husband of Yvette. For most of his life Picard remembered him as cold and frightening, a man who seemed to chase his wife and son through Chateau Picard in anger.
In Monsters, Picard lies in a coma after being struck by a car, and Tallinn enters his mind to help him wake. Reliving the childhood memory, Picard comes to see that his mother was struggling with mental illness and that Maurice was trying to protect both of them. The realization reshapes how Picard views his family. Maurice was played by James Callis.
