Trill scientist whose former host was married to Torias Dax, forcing her and Jadzia to confront the Trill taboo against reassociation.
Lenara Kahn is a Trill scientist joined to the Kahn symbiont. She comes to Deep Space Nine leading a team experimenting with the creation of artificial wormholes, and she and Jadzia Dax are immediately familiar with each other: a previous host of the Kahn symbiont was the wife of Torias Dax.
In Rejoined, the two find their old feelings returning, even though Trill society forbids reassociating with the partners of former hosts on pain of exile. After Jadzia saves her life during an accident aboard the Defiant, Lenara admits her love, but she decides she cannot give up her life on Trill and leaves. She was played by Susanna Thompson.
