Bejal Otner is the brother of Lenara Kahn and a member of the Trill science team that comes to Deep Space Nine in Rejoined to attempt the creation of an artificial wormhole. He works alongside his sister and Jadzia Dax aboard the Defiant.
Bejal watches the growing closeness between Lenara and Jadzia with alarm, because Trill law forbids reassociation with the partners of a symbiont's former hosts and the penalty is exile. He speaks to Lenara privately about the risk, and his concern reflects the social pressure that ultimately leads her to walk away. He was played by Tim Ryan.
