George Kirk is the first officer of the USS Kelvin and husband of Winona Kirk, who is aboard and about to give birth when the Narada attacks in 2233. After Captain Robau is killed, George takes command and orders the evacuation of the ship.
With the Kelvin's autopilot damaged, he remains aboard to steer it into the Narada while the shuttles escape. Over the communication channel he hears the birth of his son and names him James. His sacrifice saves hundreds of lives and inspires his son years later. He was played by Chris Hemsworth.
