Character Star Trek: Voyager

Burkus

Monean delegate

A Monean official who welcomed Voyager's help with his people's shrinking ocean planet but would not commit his government to stopping the cause.

Burkus is one of the Monean delegates who meet Voyager in Thirty Days. His people's ocean world is losing water so fast it could be destroyed within a few years, and he asks for help reaching the planet's core.
When the Delta Flyer reveals that the Moneans' own oxygen mining reactors are causing the loss, Burkus shows little interest in the remedies offered and says only that he will pass them to his government, which then refuses to shut the reactors down. His stance leads Tom Paris to take matters into his own hands, earning a demotion and thirty days in the brig.
