Guilt-ridden Cardassian clerk from the Gallitep labour camp who posed as its brutal commandant so that Cardassia would be forced to face its crimes.
Aamin Marritza is a Cardassian who arrives at Deep Space Nine suffering from a disease contracted only at the Gallitep labour camp, a site of notorious atrocities during the occupation of Bajor. Kira Nerys has him arrested, and he soon claims to be Gul Darhe'el, the camp's commandant, known as the Butcher of Gallitep.
Kira discovers that Darhe'el is long dead and that Marritza was the camp's file clerk, consumed by guilt for doing nothing while the prisoners suffered. He had hoped a public trial would force Cardassia to confront its crimes. Released by Kira, he is stabbed to death by a Bajoran on the Promenade.
