The Orb of Prophecy and Change was the one Orb the Cardassians did not take from Bajor, and it was through this Orb that Benjamin Sisko first encountered the Prophets.
In 2369 Kai Opaka invited Commander Sisko, newly arrived at Deep Space Nine, to view the Orb. In it he relived the day he met his late wife Jennifer, and Opaka told him he was destined to find the Celestial Temple.
Sisko and Jadzia Dax followed up clues in the nearby Denorios Belt and discovered the Bajoran wormhole, where the Prophets themselves dwelt. The discovery transformed the region and made Sisko the Emissary of the Prophets to the Bajoran people.
