A militaristic, patriarchal humanoid people who fought a war with the Federation and whose captain Endar raised the human youth Jono.
The Talarians are a militaristic humanoid people with a strongly patriarchal society in which men hold authority. They fought a war with the Federation before the two powers made peace, though relations between them remained wary afterwards.
In Suddenly Human, the Enterprise encountered a Talarian training vessel carrying Jono, a human youth raised by the Talarian captain Endar after Jono's parents died in a Talarian attack on the colony at Galen IV. Picard tried to return Jono to his human grandmother, but he ultimately recognised that the boy's true home was with Endar.
