A human boy raised by a Talarian captain after his family was killed, who had to choose between his birth heritage and the people who raised him.
Jono was born Jeremiah Rossa. His parents were killed in a Talarian attack on a colony when he was small, and he was adopted by Endar, a Talarian captain who had lost his own son. In Suddenly Human the Enterprise-D rescued Jono and other Talarian youths, and he was found to be the grandson of a Starfleet admiral.
Picard tried to help him reconnect with his human roots, but Jono felt torn. Unable to resolve the conflict, he stabbed Picard while he slept. Picard recognized that Jono belonged with Endar and returned him to his adoptive father.
