A species that abducted humans from 19th century Earth to serve as slave labour on a planet in the Delphic Expanse, only to be overthrown by them.
The Skagarans are a humanoid species who travelled to Earth in the 19th century and abducted a group of humans from the American West, taking them to a planet in the Delphic Expanse to work as slaves. The humans eventually rebelled and overthrew their captors, and the descendants of both peoples then lived together in a frontier town modelled on the Old West.
In the episode North Star, Jonathan Archer and his crew found this settlement and discovered that the Skagarans had become an oppressed minority, barred from education and treated harshly by the humans. Archer helped protect a teacher who was secretly educating Skagaran children and pushed the town toward a fairer future.
