A reclusive Delta Quadrant people whose lifespan runs backwards, so their elderly become children before death.
The Drayans are an isolationist Delta Quadrant society who treated contact with Voyager with great suspicion. They hold one moon of their homeworld sacred, and it was there that Tuvok's shuttle crashed. He found himself caring for several frightened children who seemed to be hiding from an unseen threat.
Tuvok eventually learned that the children were in fact elderly Drayans who had come to the moon to die, since their species ages in reverse and ends life in childhood. The episode Innocence gave Tuvok one of his most gentle storylines, as he acted as guardian and comforter to them.
