The Chalnoth are large, powerful carnivores from the planet Chalnoth. Their society is anarchic, recognizing no laws or authority, and they are quick to turn to violence and slow to trust anyone.
In Allegiance, Esoqq was imprisoned alongside Picard, the Bolian cadet Haro and the Mizarian philosopher Kova Tholl by unseen aliens studying how authority works. Unable to eat the food provided, Esoqq threatened to make a meal of his cellmates, but Picard kept the group together long enough to expose their captors.
