A 25th-century Starfleet starship carrying the name of Picard's first command, commanded by Cristobal Rios in 2401.
The USS Stargazer (NCC-82893) was a Starfleet starship of the early 25th century, carrying on the name of the vessel that Jean-Luc Picard had commanded decades earlier. By 2401 it was led by Captain Cristobal Rios.
When a spatial anomaly appeared and a Borg vessel emerged asking to join the Federation, Admiral Picard came aboard to oversee the encounter. The Borg Queen then seized control of the Stargazer's systems, and Picard, Rios and the bridge crew activated the ship's self-destruct to keep it out of Borg hands.
At the moment of destruction, Q intervened and moved Picard into an altered timeline, setting off the events of the second season of Picard. When the timeline was restored in Farewell, Picard returned to the Stargazer and the Borg encounter was resolved without the ship being lost.
