The mainstay of the Cardassian fleet.
The Galor class is the standard warship of the Cardassian Union's fleet in the late twenty-fourth century, a long, flat, amber-hulled vessel built around a forward command section. Its crews are commanded by Guls and include junior officers known as Glinns, and the ships are armed with powerful disruptor-type energy weapons.
Galor-class ships are seen repeatedly in The Next Generation, where they patrol the tense border that followed the Federation-Cardassian conflict, and they appear throughout Deep Space Nine. They took part in skirmishes with the Maquis in the Demilitarised Zone and in the Klingon invasion of Cardassian space.
After Cardassia joined the Dominion in 2373, Galor-class ships fought alongside Jem'Hadar fighters through most of the Dominion War. When Damar's rebellion turned the Cardassian forces against the Dominion during the final battle in 2375, Cardassian ships switched sides in the middle of the fighting, a turning point in the allied victory.
