The Erstwhile was a small cargo ship flown by Captain Thadiun Okona, a roguish freelance pilot. In The Outrageous Okona, the Enterprise-D found it under manual control in the Coalition of Madena and took it in tow while Okona was brought aboard to wait for repairs.
Okona was in no hurry and spent his time charming the crew. Ships from the planets Atlec and Straleb soon arrived, one accusing him of fathering a child and the other of stealing the Jewel of Thesia. Picard arbitrated the dispute, which turned out to involve Benzan of Straleb rather than Okona.
