Designation of the smaller 24th-century Klingon Birds-of-Prey, two of which were used by Ferengi pirates to seize the Enterprise-D.
The B'rel-class was a designation applied to the smaller Klingon Birds-of-Prey in service during the 24th century. Like other Birds-of-Prey, these ships had swept wings with disruptor cannons at the tips, a forward torpedo launcher and a cloaking device, and served as scouts and raiders.
In Rascals, two B'rel-class Birds-of-Prey that had passed into the hands of Ferengi pirates decloaked and attacked the Enterprise-D in 2369. With Picard and several others turned into children by a transporter accident, the Ferengi boarded and took the ship, until the young crew members turned the tables and retook it.
