Sikaris is the homeworld of the hospitable Sikarians, whose crystalline planetary mantle powers their long-range trajector technology.
Sikaris is the home planet of the Sikarians, a pleasure-loving people who welcomed Voyager's crew with generous shore leave. The planet's massive crystalline mantle serves as an amplifier for the trajector, a form of teleportation able to send people tens of thousands of light-years across space.
In Prime Factors, Voyager's crew hoped the trajector could shorten their trip home, but the Sikarian leaders refused to share it. When the device was obtained illegally, the crew learned it could only function close to the planet. Sikaris showed how a way home could be tantalizingly close and still beyond reach.
