American actor who played the Klingon chancellor Gowron across The Next Generation and Deep Space Nine for roughly a decade.
Robert O'Reilly, an American actor born in 1950, made his Star Trek debut in a small role in the Next Generation episode Manhunt before being cast as Gowron, the wide-eyed Klingon leader introduced in Reunion. Gowron's struggle to hold the High Council against the House of Duras drove the Redemption two-parter.
O'Reilly continued as Gowron on Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, beginning with The Way of the Warrior, until the character's death in the final season. He also reprised the role for the full-motion-video game Star Trek: Klingon.
