Laurence Luckinbill (born 1934) is an American actor, playwright and director who has worked extensively in theatre, including one-man shows he wrote and performed about American presidents, and who appeared in the 1970 film of The Boys in the Band.
In Star Trek V: The Final Frontier (1989) Luckinbill played Sybok, an emotional Vulcan outcast and Spock's half-brother who seizes the Enterprise to search for a mythical being at the center of the galaxy. Sybok uses his ability to release people's inner pain to win followers, and he ultimately sacrifices himself to save his brother and Kirk.
