American actor who played Hikaru Sulu in the three Kelvin Timeline films.
John Cho (born 1972) is an American actor known for playing Harold Lee in the Harold and Kumar comedies and for the thriller Searching. He has also starred in television series including FlashForward and Cowboy Bebop.
Cho played Hikaru Sulu in Star Trek (2009), Star Trek Into Darkness (2013) and Star Trek Beyond (2016). In the first film Sulu, trained in fencing, fights alongside Kirk on Nero's drilling platform above Vulcan. Beyond revealed that this version of Sulu has a husband and daughter, a choice made partly as a tribute to George Takei.
