American actress who played Ishka, Quark's outspoken mother, in several Ferengi episodes of Deep Space Nine.
Cecily Adams was an American actress who took over the recurring role of Ishka on Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, beginning with Ferengi Love Songs, after the character's first appearance had been played by Andrea Martin. Ishka, the mother of Quark and Rom, defied Ferengi laws barring women from earning profit.
Adams continued in the role in episodes such as The Magnificent Ferengi and Profit and Lace, as Ishka's partnership with Grand Nagus Zek helped bring reform to Ferengi society. She died in 2004.
