Canadian actor and artist who played the Aenar chief engineer Hemmer, the first role for a legally blind actor in Star Trek, in Strange New Worlds.
Bruce Horak is a Canadian visual artist and stage and television actor, and the first legally blind actor to portray a character in the Star Trek franchise.
In the first season of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds he played Hemmer, the Aenar chief engineer of the Enterprise. Like Horak, Hemmer is blind, relying on telepathy and other senses, and his dry wit and mentorship of Uhura made him a fan favorite before the character sacrificed himself to protect his crewmates in All Those Who Wander.
