American actor who played the android Data on The Next Generation, along with his brothers Lore and B-4 and several members of the Soong family.
Brent Spiner, an American actor born in 1949, played the android Data on Star Trek: The Next Generation, appearing in all but one of the series' 178 episodes. Data's quest to understand humanity, explored in episodes such as The Measure of a Man and The Offspring, made him one of the franchise's most beloved characters.
Spiner also played Data's malevolent twin Lore, beginning with Datalore, and Data's creator Noonien Soong in Brothers and other episodes. He reprised Data in all four films, winning a Saturn Award for Star Trek: First Contact, shared the story credit on Star Trek: Nemesis, and played the less advanced prototype B-4 in that film. On Enterprise he played the geneticist Arik Soong, and in Star Trek: Picard he returned as Data and as further members of the Soong family.
Beyond Star Trek he is known for playing Dr. Brackish Okun in Independence Day, for Broadway roles, and for the album Ol' Yellow Eyes Is Back.
