In 2151 Enterprise found a drifting Axanar ship whose crew had been murdered by alien scavengers and, after first leaving, returned to help the lone survivor.
The bodies aboard the Axanar vessel had been drained of a valuable fluid by an unseen species. Captain Archer at first chose to move on, but he changed his mind and went back to recover the dead and assist a crewman who was still alive.
When the scavengers returned and attacked, Hoshi Sato, who had been struggling with life in space, managed to communicate with an Axanar ship that arrived and drove them off. The encounter began a friendly relationship with the Axanar and marked Sato's growing confidence.
