The 2380 Pakled ambush that destroyed the USS Solvang and nearly tore the USS Cerritos apart before the USS Titan arrived.
In 2380 the USS Cerritos answered a distress call from the USS Solvang and found the ship already destroyed. The attackers were the Pakleds, a species Starfleet had long dismissed as harmless, who had quietly built up a dangerous fleet of salvaged and stolen technology.
A Pakled ship latched onto the Cerritos and began ripping it apart for parts. Rutherford devised a plan to disable the Pakled vessel with a computer virus, and when the Exocomp Peanut Hamper refused to deliver it, security chief Shaxs flew a shuttle across with Rutherford. Shaxs gave his life so Rutherford could escape, and Rutherford lost his long-term memory in the process.
More Pakled ships soon arrived, and the Cerritos was saved only when the USS Titan under William Riker came to its aid. The battle showed that the Pakleds were a real threat. Afterward Captain Freeman and her daughter Mariner agreed to work together, and Boimler accepted a transfer to the Titan.
