The Mirror Universe's history took a darker path from the moment of first contact. When a Vulcan stepped from the survey ship that had answered Cochrane's warp flight and raised a hand in greeting, Cochrane shot him dead, and the watching crowd stormed the ship and looted its technology.
The stolen Vulcan knowledge helped give rise to the Terran Empire, a brutal regime that conquered and enslaved other worlds. By the 2150s its fleet included the ISS Enterprise, whose officers seized the USS Defiant, a ship that had arrived from another universe.
