In 2154 Captain Archer boarded the Xindi superweapon as it approached Earth and destroyed it, while Enterprise brought down the Sphere Builders' network of spheres.
With the Xindi Council divided, the Reptilians and Insectoids launched the weapon toward Earth on their own and took Hoshi Sato prisoner to obtain the codes needed to arm it. Archer and a small team, joined by allies among the Xindi, chased the weapon through a vortex into the Sol system.
Aboard the weapon, Archer fought his way to its core and destroyed it, apparently at the cost of his own life. Reed and the MACOs rescued Sato, and the weapon exploded before it could reach Earth.
At the same time T'Pol took Enterprise to the Sphere Builders' central sphere and helped destroy it, causing the entire sphere network to collapse and ending the Builders' plan to reshape the Expanse. Archer was later found alive, displaced into Earth's past by a separate temporal threat, and returned to his crew, and Enterprise finally headed home.
