The Crystalline Entity stripped all life from the Omicron Theta colony, home of Noonien Soong, and the deactivated android Data was later found there by Starfleet.
Omicron Theta was the Federation colony where Dr. Noonien Soong and Juliana built the androids Lore and Data. The colonists feared Lore, and Soong deactivated him. Lore had made contact with the Crystalline Entity, a vast crystal life form that consumed living matter, and in 2336 it destroyed all life on the planet. Soong and Juliana escaped.
In 2338 the crew of the USS Tripoli found Data deactivated on the planet. He went on to enter Starfleet. In 2364 the Enterprise-D found Lore's parts on Omicron Theta, and Data carried the logs and memories of the colonists, which Soong had placed in him.
