In 2152 the Andorians destroyed the Vulcan monastery of P'Jem after learning it hid a sensor station, and the Vulcan High Command blamed Captain Archer for the loss.
Archer's decision to expose the listening post the year before led the Andorians to return and level the monastery. The Vulcans held Archer responsible and moved to recall T'Pol from Enterprise. While she and Archer were on a final mission to the planet Coridan, they were kidnapped by rebels opposed to the Vulcan-backed government.
Shran, who considered himself in Archer's debt, helped Enterprise rescue them. The episode deepened the rift between Earth and the Vulcan High Command, but T'Pol ultimately remained aboard, and the bond between Archer and the Andorian commander continued to grow.
