Burnham tries to talk Book and Nhan down at the anomaly's controller as Tarka makes a secret move.
Discovery's former security chief Nhan joins Discovery to make sure Burnham's feelings for Book do not get in the way as they follow the tracker. Saru leads a cloaked shuttle to disable Book's ship, but Tarka's automated defenses attack it, and Book helps the team escape before finding the tracker.
Book flies into the anomaly and Discovery follows. At its center both ships find the controller, and Burnham talks Nhan and Book into standing down, but Tarka fires the weapon anyway, destroying the controller and the anomaly. A new anomaly soon appears in its place. Alan McElroy wrote the episode.
