Lorca defies orders to stay and defend Pahvo, and Burnham and Tyler board Kol's ship while Stamets makes 133 jumps to break its cloak.
Told to retreat, Lorca keeps Discovery at Pahvo to protect it from Kol's flagship. Burnham and Tyler beam aboard to plant sensors, and Stamets carries out 133 rapid spore jumps around the Klingon ship so Discovery can map a way through its cloak. Burnham buys time by challenging Kol to single combat. On board they find Admiral Cornwell alive, and seeing L'Rell sends Tyler into a traumatic flashback of his captivity.
The plan works: Kol's ship is destroyed and L'Rell ends up a prisoner aboard Discovery. Lorca promises Stamets one final jump home, but he secretly changes the coordinates, and Discovery arrives somewhere unknown with Stamets in shock. The midseason finale was written by Bo Yeon Kim and Erika Lippoldt and directed by Chris Byrne.
