Worf and Jadzia face a choice between mission and love.
Worf and Jadzia Dax, recently married, are sent to the jungle planet Soukara to collect Lasaran, a Cardassian double agent who wants to defect with valuable intelligence. They must cross some twenty kilometres of jungle patrolled by the Dominion, and the trek at first feels almost like a honeymoon.
After a clash with a Jem'Hadar patrol, Dax is hit by a disruptor blast that leaves her bleeding uncontrollably. The two agree that Worf must go on without her, but he turns back and saves her life instead, and Lasaran is killed. Sisko formally reprimands Worf, which may cost him any future command, and bars the couple from working missions together, though he admits privately he understands the choice.
