A Cardassian double agent with valuable intelligence whom Worf and Jadzia Dax are sent to extract from the jungles of Soukara.
Lasaran is a Cardassian intelligence operative who wants to defect to the Federation in Change of Heart. He refuses to share anything until he is safely extracted, and arranges to walk into the jungle of the planet Soukara to meet a Starfleet team.
Worf and Jadzia Dax set out to collect him, but when Jadzia is badly wounded Worf abandons the mission to save her. Lasaran is killed before anyone can reach him, and the intelligence he carried is lost.
