Zani leads the Qowat Milat sisterhood on Vashti and raised Elnor after Picard left him behind among the Romulan refugees.
Zani is the head of the Qowat Milat, an order of Romulan warrior nuns sworn to absolute candor, whose members live among the refugees on the planet Vashti. When Picard abandoned his promise to return for the orphaned boy Elnor, it was Zani and her sisters who took him in and trained him in their fighting ways.
In Absolute Candor, Picard visits Vashti and meets Zani again while asking Elnor to join his search for Soji. Zani speaks bluntly to Picard about the hurt he caused, in keeping with her order's creed, and Elnor finally chooses to follow Picard after defending him from a hostile Romulan. Zani was played by Amirah Vann.
