Unjoined Trill who seized Deep Space Nine during an evacuation and stole the Dax symbiont from Jadzia to have it implanted in himself.
Verad is a Trill who was rejected as a candidate for joining and resents being denied a symbiont. During an evacuation of Deep Space Nine ahead of a plasma storm, he takes over the station with his companion Mareel and a group of mercenaries, and he forces Julian Bashir to transfer the Dax symbiont from Jadzia into his own body.
In Invasive Procedures, the newly joined Verad gains a confidence he never had, while Jadzia lies close to death without the symbiont. Benjamin Sisko and the crew recover Dax and return it to Jadzia, leaving Verad unjoined and abandoned by Mareel. He was played by John Glover.
