Teenage Tetrarch of the Bajoran Paqu people who negotiated a border dispute on Deep Space Nine and befriended Jake and Nog.
Varis Sul is the fifteen-year-old Tetrarch of the Paqu, a Bajoran faction locked in a dispute with the Navot over land along a river border. In The Storyteller she comes to Deep Space Nine for talks mediated by Sisko, but her refusal to bend frustrates the commander.
Nog is taken with her, and he and Jake draw her into a prank against Odo that briefly lifts the pressure of leadership. After apologizing to Sisko and talking with him about the burden of leading, she proposes a compromise that opens the way to settling the dispute.
